With his strong background in municipal, land use, and environmental law, James Virga assists municipalities and local legislators draft local and state laws and provides developers, landlords, and individuals guidance in complying with them. In addition to serving private clients, James currently serves as Special Counsel to legislators in the City of Yonkers and as Deputy Prosecutor in the City of Rye. 

Since joining the firm in 2017, James has also represented individual homeowners and businesses in tax grievances, Article 7 proceedings (tax certioraris), and has litigated before regulatory agencies, also having appeared in both Federal and State courts. 

James’ legal knowledge is further complemented by his own personal experiences in construction and project management. Having worked in construction and commercial maintenance, he understands the nuances of each project from conception to go-to-market.

At Pace University, he served as the Articles Editor for Pace’s Environmental Law Review, and conducted research at the University’s Land Use Law Center.
