Cabot J. Marks

Managing Member

With nearly three decades of experience in corporate, real estate, and sports and entertainment law, Cabot Marks is respected for strategic problem solving and finding creative solutions for businesses across a wide range of industries. Known for his keen wit and approachable manner, Cabot provides clients from both the private and public domains with a sense of assurance and care.

Cabot recognizes that growing businesses need trusted legal advice, without the expense of employing in-house counsel. As such, he provides small businesses and entrepreneurs with counsel on all aspects of corporate law, as well as strategic operational advisory, particularly for principals and executives with sports or entertainment backgrounds.

This close work with businesses extends equally into real estate, advising and representing developers, buyers, sellers, landlords, and tenants. Cabot successfully advocated for businesses impacted by the Second Avenue Subway through the Second Avenue Merchants Association and recently achieved a large settlement for a residential building impacted by a major developer.

Cabot’s combination of legal and business acumen also serves current and former professional athletes in their off-field revenue-producing and philanthropic endeavors, including negotiations on endorsements, sponsorships, licensing deals and more.

In addition to his responsibilities as managing member, Cabot also dedicates time to training the future generation in sports and entertainment law and marketing as an adjunct professor and member of the faculty at the Lubin School of Business at Pace University.

Prior to the formation of Marks DiPalermo Wilson, Cabot co-founded Championship Marketing Group, Inc., which exclusively worked with hundreds of athletes from the four major U.S. sports. Cabot directed group licensing and branding programs, facilitated exhibition games, and helped raise more than one million dollars for charity through his work — which included such notables as World Series championship teams, “the Gold Medal” Olympic hockey team, Super Bowl champions, and more.

In 1997, Cabot transformed the marketing company into the Law Offices of Cabot J. Marks, a boutique law firm, which today is known as Marks DiPalermo Wilson.
